It was of interest when I read the election results story this morning in the Lebanon Democrat.
Looks like the constituents returned to School Board office the two incumbents running, proving once again the power of the incumbency, regardless of quality of the incumbent. It also shows that the electorate is not paying attention to the record amount of money that Davis and Hall are getting ready to try to grab out of our wallets.
A few weeks ago, a friend of ours asked me my opinion of Ash vs. Lasater in District 5 of the School Board race. They could see little real difference in the two, they both mouthed the same old “I’m going to help the children” dribble, and it was a toss of the coin.
I told them that I would vote for Lasater.
“But why” they asked, “he’s one of the ineffectual incumbents you detest.”
I would have voted for Lasater because he is allied with Davis, whereas Ash under the surface has connections with Hall. Ash’s wife is a Ass’t Principal at LHS, and thus owes her job to Hall and his purges of Spring 2007. The good old boy network was smelling real bad on this one, and when you can smell it you better watch your step.
Why a Davis ally over a Hall crony? Davis is a short-timer. He is getting old and his heart health is questionable. When Davis does not get his contract renewed, we need a School Board that will say no to making Hall the interim director again where he can re-start the purges of his enemies; and we need a School Board that will bring in an experienced educator/administrator to run the school system, and not install Hall as permanent Director with no class room experience, his only claim to fame being the Chairman of the Hall Political Bureau of Principals, Ass’t Principals, and School Board Cronies.
Thank you voters of District 5 for saying no to those with personal ties to Hall.
We are watching and reporting.
