What other Math Mistakes is Davis making?

Paper was delivered by Post Office one day early. The August 27, 2008 edition of the Wilson A.M. published by The Tennessean has an article titled “Schools face budget crisis” which gives an overview of what is happening.

A sidebar to the article is titled “What That Means For Taxpayers”. Here is what it says verbatim:

At the current tax rate, a taxpayer living in a home appraised for tax purposes at $150,000 would pay $836 annually. If the rate increased to $2.57 on the same home, the taxpayer would pay $963, or about $10.58 per month.

Remember that Mike Davis was quoted in the Lebanon Democrat that a home worth $200,000 would only pay $80 more? And we at the School Watch countered his math was wrong? Well, another sources calculations show that Davis is wrong. The numbers are proportionally right with what we showed for a home worth $200,000. Davis has underestimated the cost by over 50%.

Maybe we should pay more, after all we want our students to be able to do math and not be like Mr. Davis and not have a clue.

If we can’t trust him to tell us the truth about how much the tax will impact our finances, in this case a 50% mistake, how do we know that he and Hall are telling the truth about the numbers in their budget?????

We are watching, and we are appalled that Mike Davis cannot do simple math. Maybe he can, instead he is just taking us for the fool and intentionally lying to us in order to manipulate us.
